Songye shield from Congo. This small ceremonial shield has fine linear incisions radiating to the face, all filled with kaolin, the surface is natural wood. It has two blue corners one natural and one red. There is a handle on the back. The mouth has slight wood worm damage but it’s still a nice decorative piece. Mid-late 20th c 39cm long.
